Braeden's Pilgrimage
Please see the letter below from Braeden:
Dear family and friends,
For the past several years, I have attended camps and events hosted by the American TFP (The American Society for the defense of Tradition, Family, and Property). They are a lay Catholic men's organization that was originally started to fight the spread of communism in South America. Now, they fight for traditional Catholic values, are strong Pro-Life advocates, and hold Rosary rallies and protests across America against satanism, socialism, and the other many issues in our modern culture. They have challenged me to be a strong defender of Catholicism, and it is an honor to have learned so much from them.
I'm sure they would like me to become a full member, but they understand that I am working towards a vocation to the priesthood, and they support me in that journey. Over the New Year holiday, I attended their annual Student Action Conference with many other young Catholic men. It was an experience like none other.
Shortly afterward, I received a call from one of the members inviting me to join the TFP on a pilgrimage that I have often thought I would love to do, the Camino de Santiago, The Way of St. James in Spain. There are many routes, but we would go on a nine day walking pilgrimage from to Vila de Cande to the Basilica of Santiago de Compostela. It is a journey of about 135 miles and promises to be a spiritual journey of blessings and self discovery.
The cost of the pilgrimage including travel is roughly $3500. I have some money that I'm putting towards it and my parents are as well. But it is challenging to come up with the full amount. I would be most appreciative of any support that you might give, both financially and in prayer.
The members who I spoke to that have done this in the past said it was one of the most profound and inspiring experiences of their lives. I can only imagine the impact on my own life and perspective, spending time in another country and culture, worshiping in shrines and churches along the way, and having days to contemplate the apostles commitment, and most importantly, God's love for us.
If you might be able to help me make this dream a reality, I will most humbly accept any assistance you may offer. And of course, I certainly understand if that's not possible and will very much appreciate your prayers. I will happily take your prayer intentions with me on the journey as well. If I cannot obtain the funds necessary, all donations will be returned. Thank you for your kind consideration.
In Christ,
Braeden Arndt
