Gambit's Vet Bills

Due to a medical emergency with seemingly no explanation, I am starting this fundraiser for one of our dogs, Gambit. A ~10-year old Siberian Husky, Gambit joined our family 9 years ago, and recently we've been managing our various vet bills for our two dogs over the last couple of years, but this last one has been a nightmare.

Last month we took our dogs for their annual dental, but weeks later we noticed a discolored tooth when giving him his daily epilepsy medication. We took him to a specialist and they verified that he was a good candidate for a root canal. In that same appointment they did X-rays and saw signs of periodontal disease, tooth resorption, and recommended to extract 11 teeth. We were going to separate the procedures but due to their miscommunication, they ended up extracting all of them on the same day as the root canal (Thursday).

Over the weekend, his swelling did not go down and by Sunday night we noticed blood on his neck. After a scary 24-48 hours, he was admitted to an emergency vet hospital as he showed signs of vasculitis, with necrotic tissue around his neck. He has had surgery to remove the dead tissue, has been doing hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and he will be hooked up to a vacuum next week to keep trying to remove the bacteria before they can start the healing process. The worst part is they aren't sure yet what is the cause - drug reaction, surgery injury, even a possible insect bite. We'll find out more when the cultures come back, but he will likely be admitted in the hospital for another week at minimum.

We are absolutely at a loss for words and want to do everything we can to get him the best care. We've been set back between my own hospital bills over the last few years, plus the dogs' ongoing care (Bucky had a malignant tumor that we removed and just finished cancer treatments for, but then needed knee surgery due to a torn CCL). Please donate any little thing that you can as we keep getting more deposits and payments due, and we've opened up new credit accounts and raised limits on existing ones.

If you cannot donate, please share. FreeFunder donates for shares up to $70, which every little bit helps.

Thank you,

Fernando, Justin, Bucky, Gambit
