Saving Maya the Frenchie!
Help Maya Get the Care She Needs – Every Little Bit Helps
Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for taking a moment to read about Maya's story. I understand times are tough right now, and every penny counts, but I couldn't be more grateful for your attention and support.
Meet Maya:
Maya came into our lives unexpectedly just a few days ago. During a walk in our neighborhood, I was asked to take her in, and I couldn't bear to leave her behind. She arrived with severe health issues: hardly able to walk, coughing, lethargic, and unable to eat. Despite her condition, the spirit in her big Frenchie eyes told me she was asking for help, and I knew I had to try.
Her Tragic Past:
Maya's previous owner tragically passed away due to a drug overdose, and she was then left in the care of a neighbor who abused and neglected her for about a year. A kind-hearted man in our neighborhood, who already cares for four rescue dogs, rescued Maya but couldn't afford to keep her. That's when I stepped in.
The Urgent Situation:
I rushed Maya to the vet where she underwent extensive tests, including a blood panel, imaging, and an IV catheter for severe dehydration. The results were heartbreaking: Maya is in extreme kidney failure, with dangerously high levels of bacteria in her urine. Her condition is critical, and the vet has advised that her kidney damage is likely irreversible. She needs hospitalization for 3-4 days, further care, ultrasound, and treatment.
Current Status:
With the support of a dear friend, I managed to get Maya admitted to the Animal Medical Center emergency room last night. She is now receiving IV fluids and antibiotics. The ER doctor believes there's a slim chance worth trying, and we hope for some improvement after further treatment.
The Financial Need:
We're facing significant costs:
- Initial Vet Visit: $1,300
- Estimated Hospitalization and Treatment: $8,000 - $10,000
So far, these bills have been charged to my credit card, and I'm seeking your help to cover these expenses. I've reached out to rescues for support, but without surrendering Maya, there's no financial aid available. The vetting process for fostering through an organization would take weeks, and Maya's condition is too urgent.
How You Can Help:
If you can contribute, even $5 would make a huge difference. Every donation goes directly toward Maya's treatment and gives her a fighting chance at a better life. Your support means the world to me and to Maya, who deserves to know what it feels like to be loved and cared for.
