Cindy Coming Home

Cindy, our mother, has been through so much over the last 3 years. If you have had the pleasure and blessing of knowing her, you know that her heart is full of love, joy, and compassion. Let me share her story with you as well as the purpose of this fundraiser.

In 2019 Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer which was a devastating blow to a very active lady. She started chemo shortly after being diagnosed, she barreled through that like a champ and became cancer free in 2020. Although she has beaten chemo, she had many complicated issues during and after that have heightened the severity of her condition.

During the chemo, Cindy had broken her foot, but because of the cancer, it could not be fixed so she had to deal with it for over a year. In March her doctor made the worst decision that he could have possibly made for her at the time. The doctor decided to proceed with surgery too fast after chemo thus it had permanent consequences on her health.

During the surgery, her blood pressure became dangerously low so he administered fluids, when he did that he flooded her lungs which resulted in her breathing stopping and causing her heart to suffer major damage. She went into a coma for 6 weeks right in the middle of Covid. This caused her to not have any visitors at all during this whole time. She had woken up, but her body wasn't the same she had several heart attacks landing her in the hospital time and time again. She had then gotten a pacemaker to keep her heart working until last Thursday, July 20th.

Cindy was at a blood transfusion appointment, and she stopped breathing. They did CPR and revived her to bring her back to us. They got her heart to start working again but once again slipped into a coma. When we saw her we were as devastated to see this once vibrant woman who was active in the community and involved with her family and friends was once again weak and frail.

Our family and friends sat beside her hospital bed for 3 days when she finally opened her eyes again. She fought hard and they were able to take out the breathing tube and she was breathing on her own. Cindy was then transferred to Sacramento Heart Clinic where they ran tests on her. The test came back with a result that none of us were ready to hear.

She was still losing the life she has been fighting so hard for. Her heart is only working at 10%- 15% and they told us that she only has about 6 months to a year max with us. At this point, recovery is not an option and the best we can do is keep her as comfortable as much as possible at this point.

This wasn't something anyone would want for someone who they love. In addition to her life-threatening condition, her home doesn't have a working AC or a ramp up to her house and she cannot walk. Her daughter had bought her a window unit that has helped to some small degree to relieve a small part of the issue. Even though a window AC unit had been installed it is still 97 degrees in her home. There is also the issue of the ramp as of now she balances herself with our help going up and down the stairs. I've been looking into costs to fix the AC and to install a ramp and the cost isn't cheap.

Cindy's heart is failing her so now not only do we have to keep her cool and be able to transport her up and down the stairs to get to doctor's appointments. We also have to prepare for hospice. Neither of our family or friends has the money for any of these things upcoming costs and medical needs that she desperately needs to survive. Her insurance cannot cover all the additional medical needs, thus beginning this campaign to keep her comfortable during these last few moments of her life and begin to save for a funeral and celebration of life that she deserves. We hope to honor her life and the love that she so desperately tried to fight for.

We are doing everything to support our mother. She has one of the purest and kindest souls and it is so tragic to see her suffering.

Good thoughts, wishes, and prayers are deeply appreciated. If you can donate in any capacity or even share this fundraiser, we greatly appreciate that!

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, it is yet unwritten and we are thankful for it every day.

Much love and gratitude. ðŸ’“
