family homelessness
The family history..
My family has been torn apart by financial situations caused by the pandemic. My fiance, The breadwinner of our family, worked in the medical field for over 20 years. But that was brought to an end during the pandemic when the board of nursing removed her license, placed her on probation, and tried to charge us $1,200 - $1,400 a month in fees and supplies to keep her on workplace probation.
She didn't do anything wrong, she didn't break any laws, literally all she did was apply for a job, and the lady at that job reported her to the board of nursing, and destroyed her career and her ability to provide for her family.
Board of nursing immediately took action against my fiance without any kind of real investigation or anything. They just believed the potential employer that she was applying at, and went out of their way to destroy her career based off of the lies that were told about her.
My fiance is an amazing woman. Very caring and compassionate. And nursing and taking care of others was her lifes calling. And thanks to the lies of one person, her entire career was destroyed and ripped away from her.
Although she is no longer a registered nurse in the state of missouri, she still has a job where she takes care of people as an in-home caregiver. But the money is about a third of what she used to make, so we ended up losing our home, then the townhouse we rented after that, and slowly but surely financial debt has ruined our family.
Right now my fiance and I are living in a pop-up camper full time, and the heat index has been over 105 all week. We don't have rooms for the kids, so they have to stay with other family. And we can't even afford to eat dinner everyday. So we skipped meals and sometimes skipping tire days of eating.
The toll this is taken on my fiance's mental health has been extreme. I can't afford to put her in therapy, I can't afford to get her the help she needs, and I can't even afford to put a real roof over her head because DJ gigs are getting pretty few and far between, and nobody wants to pay for the services anymore.
I am a mentally handicapped autistic person with adhd, and lots and lots of childhood trauma that I've been working through.
I do my best to take care of my fiance and the kids at every turn, even if that means I have to go without.
Even if that means I don't get to wash my laundry this week and I have to rewear everything dirty and sweaty.
My fiance, my family, and my kids come first. So when I have the money, taking care of them is always the priority. But it's getting to the point where I just never have money anymore. All of the money my wife earns is spent before it's even ours, we don't even get to see it, it gets spent so quickly paying bills and making payments on the massive amount of debt we have.
Because, you see... In order to get the education necessary to become a registered nurse or an LPN before that, my fiance had to take out loans and stuff in order to even become qualified to do the job that she was born to do.
And now that we are completely homeless, all the deferrals are done and they are now demanding $2,000 a month in loan payments, or they're going to put a lien against our land and camper, and take that away from us too..
I just don't know what to do anymore.
All I can do is beg for help and pray at somebody is moved enough by our story to make them care enough to help us.
Why are we doing a fundraiser?
In a perfect world every family would have a home, but since ours does not, we have to build one ourselves, because we will never raise enough money to buy a home in our area.
We've been looking at building a container home on our property, in order to save a lot of money.
The idea is, since our property is a hillside, put in some telephone poles or something so we could level up a spot, and then bring in two 40 ft high-top shipping containers and have them set down on the poles.
My father-in-law my phone's welding school and plenty of equipment, and my fiance is even a trained welder.
The idea being, if we can cut up and weld and insulate these boxes like people do on the internet, we can actually turn it into a small two bedroom cabin on our property that we could actually climate control.
This last winter, my fiance and I almost froze to death because the camper offers zero insulation from the outside temperatures. And with this last week's heat index being over 105 all week, I feel like I'm going to have a stroke if I don't start taking care of myself.
I can't be freezing all winter and melting all summer now that I'm in my upper 40s and closing in on 50 quickly. I have to take better care of myself if I'm going to be around to take care of my family.
If 200 people donate $100 a piece, my family doesn't have to be homeless anymore. I can purchase an inexpensive towable backhoe from harbor freight, did the holes, have the poles set.
And I can get the international shipping containers brought in and crane lifted into position.
It's not the most inexpensive way to survive, but it is a secure and inexpensive way to survive. Because, dang it, after living in this camper for several years, and having multiple people break in and try to attack us, we deserve a little security in our lives.
Our Goal...
Build a home for our family, with your help!
