MEMORIAL FUNDRAISER

On April 1, 2020,my stepdad went to the Emergency Room with severe abdominal pain. The doctor ordered a CT scan, what was discovered changed his and my families life forever. Glenn was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. This horrible cancer had spread to his lungs, liver, intestines, and abdominal wall! We were told that he would only have 3-6 months left. Within a few days, Glenn was unable to eat or drink because the stomach and intestine were partially blocked. The doctor caring for Glenn did everything possible to alleviate some of these issues by performing a bypass surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful and there was nothing else that could be done for him. Because of the CO-VID19, it was heart wrenching to know that he was unable to have my mother and family by his side.

On April 10th, Glenn asked to come home to be with his family and live the rest of his life surrounded by all of us. We thought we had so much time left. But, everything became a whirlwind after that day. On the 11th, Hospice needed to be called in and their amazing team was a Godsend to Glenn and my mother. On the 14th, Glenn's kidneys started shutting down. Two days later he went into a semi-coma. While my mother was by his side and holding his hand, Glenn peacefully passed away on April 17, 2020.

For 13 years Glenn had been a part of my family and was a positive influence to me, my siblings, and our friends. He taught us right from wrong, even if we didn't agree at the time. I remember many times listening to his advice (and my siblings would agree) we thought it was crazy and lame at times. But, now that we are adults, we find ourselves remembering and using his crazy and lame advice! Glenn had many flaws, but he was an amazing person too. He had proudly served in the Marines, and he used his stories of that time to teach us many life lessons. His attention to other's needs was heartwarming, for he was always there to lend a helping hand day or night. He was active in the community by working with the Homeless Veterans of Beloit and Janesville. He was a tutor through the United Way, and taught reading to those who could not. Because of his desire to help others, Glenn sought out employment with the county and began working for Community Actions. There he was able to help anyone in the county who was in need of help. His smile, sense of humor, wisdom, compassion, kindness, his amazing contagious laugh, and his oh-so famous advice undoubtedly touched me, my family, friends, co-workers, clients, and even a stranger in one way or another.

Unfortunately, the only life insurance Glenn had was an Accidental policy, which will not cover any expenses due to his death. We are reaching out to family, friends, and caring strangers through Social Media to help us financially cover the cost of the funeral home expenses and his Veterans Memorial service. Glenn deserves to have an amazing Memorial service, your help could make this happen and would be greatly appreciated.Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
