Help for Ukrainians
I am Polish living with my family in the United States. Like you, I have been watching the tragedy unfold in the Ukraine. Many of my friends have contacted me asking how to help and donate money. I had already decided that I was going to help and this motivated me to expand my attempts.
I know there are many charity organizations to choose from, but unfortunately they can not reach everyone. My mission is to gather donations for those individuals that haven't been helped. I also want to know where, to who, and how my donations will be used.
Closest to my heart is Oksana, a Ukrainian lady who stayed behind with her daughter to volunteer. Together with her neighbors she prepares food for "their boys" fighting in Kiev. The ladies make everything from scratch (buns, bread, pierogi, canning), then wrap it and send it to the fighting zones. She says everybody helps as much as they can, but there is so much more they could do, if they have more money. They need medications, produce like flour, eggs, sugar etc. (she gets most of the produce from farmers because the stores are closed). They are running out of everything.
I can not help but to think: this could have been us, this could've been our children, and our husbands… But for some reason we are here, on the other side of the world, with beautiful homes and peaceful neighborhoods. Let's share our abundance with those who are in need. There is so much blessing in giving!
I have several more families I would like to help depending on how much money I gather for this cause.
