My name is Monica, I am 47, and I never thought I would have to write this.

A few months ago, my world stopped when I heard the words "you have cancer." Since then, my life has become hospital visits, treatments, medications, and trying to stay strong on the days when my body feels too tired to keep going.

I have always been the one who takes care of everyone else. I have worked hard my whole life and I have always believed that if you work hard, you will be okay. But cancer doesn't care how hard you work.

I have now spent everything I had — my savings, everything I set aside for emergencies — just to keep up with medical bills, travel to treatment, and the costs of just trying to live while fighting this disease. I am fighting with all my heart to survive, but financially, I have reached the end.

It is so humbling and so difficult to ask for help. But today, I have to.
