Lenin needs urgent help
Urgent: Lenin needs emergency help moving out safely ASAP. Lenin is a Colombian autistic trans man, with no support from family. He has been in and out of the shelter system because of how unsafe his home is, but last night this situation has become an emergency.
Lenin woke up to a house full of smoke, when firefighters arrived they identified all the smoke detectors in the home had been tampered with and removed, by the time he woke up he inhaled so much smoke he was rushed to the hospital and treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. He has preexisting respiratory issues and requires an asthma inhaler. When his father was question he told the police of his extensive mental health history and instead of just getting the medical treatment necessary he was put on a psychiatric hold for 12 hours.
Because of this he missed valuable time at work and will have to take further time off to recover after receiving oxygen treatments for the carbon monoxide poisoning.
Lenin’s father has police records and documented evidence of domestic violence against him and his mother. He is volatile, erratic, and dangerous. He carries a weapon in the house without a safe and frequently has angry outbursts.
Lenin needs emergency support to safely leave this abusive and hostile environment, he’s been in the shelter system before to escape but it’s only led to further danger and trauma. Please help us ensure he has the necessary funds to move away and stay away for his health and safety for good.
