Help Bring My Sweet Boy, Maximus, Home
My sweet boy, Max, passed away suddenly on May 15th. He started throwing up on Mother's Day, the 10th. I thought maybe he had eaten something that upset his stomach. Max loved to eat! Unfortunately, Max also liked to eat non-edible objects sometimes too. But this time, he did not get better. He got worse by the day. I rushed him to the vet, and two days later, my boy passed away.
The vet discovered that Max had a severe condition called intussusception—a painful, sudden twisting and blockage of the intestines. Despite the best efforts to save him, his body just couldn't fight it off, and my heart is completely broken.
Max wasn't just a pet to me; he was my protector. We were actually training for him to be my official service dog, but the truth is, Max didn't even need training to know when I was hurting. I am disabled and i suffer from Ménière’s disease, which causes sudden, terrifying vertigo attacks. Whenever an attack hit me, Max knew exactly what to do. He would lay his body completely over me so that I felt anchored and safe. He would stay just like that, sometimes for hours, never leaving my side until the attack passed. He was my shadow and my comfort.
Now, I am facing a second heartbreak. Because his passing was so sudden, I am left with an outstanding veterinary bill. Because he is no longer with us and doesn't need "ongoing treatment," traditional pet financing and medical charities like CareCredit and Waggle have turned me down. The clinic cannot release Max's ashes to me until this final balance is paid.
I am completely lost without him, and the pain of knowing his ashes are sitting at the clinic instead of home where he belongs is unbearable. I just want to bring my boy back to the place where he spent his life protecting me.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward paying off his final medical bill so I can cross this final bridge and bring Maximus home. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page—FreeFunder will contribute to the campaign just for sharing.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get closure and bring my sweet boy home.
