Hello everyone,

I am a single mother of two beautiful children, a first-generation college student, and I am reaching out for help to keep my family safe and housed after an incredibly challenging few months.

In May, my world was turned upside down. My daughter was only 3 months old when she contracted both RSV and rhinovirus. While I was initially told her symptoms would resolve, she suddenly took a turn for the worse. After rushing her to urgent care, she was transferred to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest in serious condition. Because she required highly specialized care to survive, she had to be transferred a second time to McLane Children's Baylor Scott & White, where she was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

As any mother would, I stayed strictly by her bedside for the 3 to 4 weeks it took for her to fully recover. Thank God, she is a fighter and is doing much better today. Sadly, despite the medical emergency, I was laid off from my job during that short time away. Because of the immediate financial strain, I also had to make the painful decision to take a break from college this semester. I am studying Bilingual Education (EC-6), and I am determined to be the very first person in my family to graduate from college.

Since the layoff, I have been working tirelessly doing DoorDash and grocery deliveries, even selling my own personal belongings just to make ends meet. We have fallen too far behind, and our lease is ending in exactly one month. Right now, I am short on our current rent, and my vehicle urgently needs new brakes and rotors. Because it is unsafe to drive, I am on the verge of losing my only source of transportation and delivery income.

My ultimate goal is to move our small family to the city where my extended family lives, which is also where my college campus is located. Up until now, I have been taking my classes entirely online, but relocating means I will finally be able to attend my college in person. Moving there means everything falls into place: reliable childcare, a better job, a fresh start, and the physical campus support I need to finish my degree. This move will truly be life-changing for us.

To keep my kids safe today and get us to that fresh start before our lease is up, I need help overcoming these major financial hurdles:

• Final Rent & Past-Due Balance ($2,000): To cover what I am short on so we can complete our lease safely this month without a costly legal eviction or broken lease on my record.
• Car Repairs ($750): To replace grinding brakes and rotors so my vehicle is safe for delivery work and our eventual relocation drive.
• Moving & Relocation Funds ($3,250): For a one-way truck rental, fuel, and the upfront security deposit required to secure our new apartment near my family and campus.
• Education Funds ($500): To cover the costs of school supplies/materials

Total Goal: $6,500
