The Park Stole My Car

I'm not going to keep apologizing for every crowdfunding post because I need crowdfunding. ADHD is a real disability, and working full time doesn't leave me enough time to stay organized and grounded. Not that anyone should have to work that much.

I get by without paying rent in exchange for helping my roommate with some things, and a lot of those things really require me to be able to have access to a car. My sweet van and former home suddenly wouldn't start two weeks ago Sunday. I was, as always strapped for money, and so I was determined to diagnose and fix it myself.

But taking the bus to work in a heatwave wiped me out and I wasn't finding the energy. Then I felt reinvigorated to try again when the temperatures came down, but it was too late, the trailer park had towed it. I do belive this tow was in violation of the new 24 hour notice law, and have filed a report, however that does not mean I can just have my van back. Yesterday they were asking for $600, today it is probably more. Plus, (don't tell them) I would have to get another tow truck to take it to (?) because cars that don't work aren't allowed in the park and if they saw it towed in they would definitely tow it right back out.

Soooo…I think my choice is going to be to sign it over to the tow company. It's really a shame because I was planning to sell it and buy a different car. My van served it's purpose when it was my home, but I'd like something smaller with more passenger space these days, and I'd also like a good beginner car for learning to do my own repairs.

The Volvo 740 wagons form like 87-96 seem to be the answer to my needs. They seat 8 uncomfortably, get 20 miles to a gallon have folding seats so it could be used for camping (or living in, in an emergency). They run forever and parts seem not to hard to find, plus I've been told they give you “room for a wrench” and that makes them a good beginner car for home repairs.

When I was pricing them a few months ago, I was seeing a lot that run and drive for like $1200, but there are ones that cost more. I've seen them for $800-$5000. I will probably have $1200 come next Friday, but I likely will need more than that. Anything you can give will really help my life and community. Thank you for reading.
