About Kellie Delka
Here’s your updated version in first person, stronger and aligned with your current journey:
I’m Kellie Delka, a professional skeleton athlete and Olympian representing Puerto Rico on the world stage. I’ve spent over a decade competing internationally at the highest level, and I’m now pushing toward my third Olympic Games in France 2030.
My athletic journey started in Texas, where I competed in multiple sports before finding my passion in track and field. I attended the University of North Texas, where I competed as a Division I track athlete for four years and later joined the cheerleading team. I walked on to the track team, tied the school record as a freshman, and earned a scholarship. I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology, which has given me a deep understanding of performance, biomechanics, and how to optimize my body at an elite level.
After college, I discovered the sport of skeleton and committed fully to mastering it. Since then, I’ve built my career from the ground up. As a self-funded athlete representing Puerto Rico, I’ve taken on every role, athlete, coach, travel planner, and manager, while competing against fully supported national teams.
Despite that, I’ve competed in over 100 international races, earned multiple podium finishes, and represented Puerto Rico at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Milano Cortina 2026, and ultimately France 2030.
I’ve been living and training in Puerto Rico for the past eight years, proudly representing the island while working to help grow winter sports opportunities for future generations who may have never imagined a path like this.
Everything I’ve built has come from discipline, resilience, and relentless belief. I know what I’m capable of, and with the right support behind me, a breakthrough performance at the highest level isn’t a question of if, it’s when.
The Challenge
The audacious goal of a small Caribbean nation like Puerto Rico earning a medal in skeleton is unthinkable to many in the sport because the insiders know that skeleton is unlike any other Olympic sport. The difference these insiders understand is that perhaps more so than any other Olympic sport, the results rely on much more than individual talent and work ethic alone.
In skeleton, being a hard-worker and having world-class sprinting speed, just isn't enough. Skeleton more resembles a sport like race car driving, because beyond all the individual human factors, you also need to have the best equipment and supporting crew (aka “coaching and filming”) in the world to have a serious shot at the podium,
Kellie has proven she has the speed, the impeccable driving skills, the dedicated work ethic, and mental strength required to bring home a medal, because she goes out and beats Olympic medalists with far more funding and support than she knows she will ever have, and this just makes her hungrier than ever to close that funding gap and even the playing field, so she can have a real shot at making history in a big way!
What does Kellie's season cost? Here's a breakdown of what a typical season would cost her.
