Shive Survivors Fund

                                            Shive Survivors Fund

It takes a village to raise a child. Who can help to raise little Leah and Keira Shive after their beloved father Charlie Shive passed away with salivary gland cancer, at the age of 41???

Can we all try to help a little bit so Leah and Keira and their mom could survive strongly and carry on Charlie's spirit?

Please see the Obituary below and act!!! Thank you!

Charlie Shive was born November 26, 1974 and died May 19, 2016. He is survived by his wife Joanna Wei Zhao and daughters Leah and Keira, as well as aunts Rosemary Munch and Eileen Speck, Uncle Tom Briskey, and numerous loving friends. His favorite things to do were taking his girls to the park, vacationing with the family, visiting New Jersey, and going on cruises and road trips to Disney, the beach, and our national parks.

Charlie was born in Chatham, NJ: http://www.chatham-nj.org/chs, and showed a flair for music at an early age. He was a mainstay of the Chatham High School marching band, as well as the marching band of his alma mater, the University of Maryland at College Park. He also had an aptitude for computers, and mastered hardware, software, networking, and project management. His final job was at the National Cancer Institute's Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology: http://cbiit.nci.nih.gov, where colleagues respected his friendly, inclusive style and his broad-ranging interests in science, astronomy, medicine, and technology.

Even as Charlie's cancer progressed, he always seemed to be in the best of spirits. Nurses commented that he was the nicest patient they had ever seen, especially given the pain he endured. He fought the long odds with dignity and strength so that he could maximize his time with his wife and girls.

Charlie was a devoted father and husband, whose hospital walls were lined with drawings from his daughters. The wonderful staff at Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center's ICU: http://www.adventisthealthcare.com/locations/shady-grove-medical-center/, where he spent his final days, marveled at the 24/7 care provided by his family and friends, as well as the stream of family and visitors flying in from Hawaii, California, and other places around the country to share time with their dear Charlie. His hiking and camping buddies made a final encampment with Charlie in the ICU so that he could share once more in the laughter that he had brought to everyone around him.

Charlie donated his body to medical science so that others would benefit from greater knowledge about salivary gland cancer.

All 100% funds collected would be for the family and Joanna would like to donate 50% of the fund for cancer research and children with cancer, and 50% for Lean and Keira's education fund.
