Help my students make their international exchange dreams a reality!

Ten Japanese language students from Columbus North and Columbus East High School will have the opportunity to travel to Japan in June of 2024.

As participants in the New Perspectives: Japan program, students will embark on a fourteen-day tour exploring the fine arts, architecture, and cuisine of Japan in Tokyo and Kyoto.

Students will also visit our sister city of Miyoshi for approximately 7 days. While there, students will visit Japanese schools, experience a home stay and be immersed in the Japanese language and culture.

The approximate cost per participant is $4,675 plus personal spending money. Students are also expected to provide their host family with gifts, as well as small gifts for students in classrooms they visit. This on top of any expenses needed for travel including luggage, appropriate clothing, passports fees, etc.

Our sister city relationship with Miyoshi City in Aichi prefecture began nearly 30 years ago. The tremendous generosity of our community has been instrumental in strengthening the ties between the young people of Columbus, Indiana and Miyoshi, Japan in the past. Columbus students have not been able to visit Miyoshi since 2018 so we hope to revitalize this relationship with our trip this summer.
