83 year old condo crisis

83-Year-Old Condo Owner Facing Medical Crisis and Homelessness

Dear Friends and Community,

I am reaching out today in a critical race against time. My name is Carmine Mancini, I am 83 years old, and for the last 22 years, my condo has been my home and sanctuary. Over more than two decades, I have maintained a flawless record as a resident—never missing a single monthly HOA payment or assessment fee.

Today, my home and my survival are at immediate risk. I live on a strict, fixed Social Security income of exactly $1,300 a month. Recently, I was hit by a "perfect storm" of unexpected housing overhead increases and severe medical diagnoses. I am currently battling an autoimmune disease alongside a diagnosed aneurysm. At 83, these serious health conditions completely eliminate any physical ability to secure part-time work to supplement my income.

Because my monthly housing overhead has skyrocketed to roughly $875 (due to a sudden monthly HOA hike from $275 to $325 and an annual property tax increase), I am being forced to drain my emergency savings just to survive. My safety net has already plummeted from $15,000 down to $11,000. At this current rate of depletion, I am facing absolute homelessness in six months or less.

The walls are closing in due to immediate, overlapping financial shocks:

  • The Foreclosure Threat: I have been hit with a massive $2,400 special HOA assessment fee. Because my savings are draining, paying this outright accelerates my path to homelessness, but failing to pay risks an immediate HOA lien and foreclosure on the home I've owned for 22 years.
  • The Medical Gap: My critical dental bridge costs have exceeded my Humana/Medicare annual cap, leaving me with an immediate $1,000 out-of-pocket medical bill that I cannot afford, and zero dental coverage left for the rest of the year. My aneurism $300 ultrasound is not covered as well as autoimmune disease.
  • Predatory Debt Costs: I am struggling to resolve $12,000 in remaining credit card liabilities through a program whose predatory 28% interest fees are bleeding my remaining resources.

Where Your Support Goes:

Your generosity is a direct lifeline to halt the depletion of my emergency fund and keep me housed. Every dollar raised goes directly to:

1. Clearing the $2,400 special HOA assessment to secure my home of 22 years.

2. Covering the $1,000 Humana/Medicare out-of-pocket gap to finish my dental bridge.

3. Providing a tiny breathing room buffer so I do not become homeless in my 80s.

Asking for help while battling severe health issues at this stage of my life is incredibly difficult. I'm not looking for a handout just a hand. If you cannot donate, please share my story. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

With deep gratitude,

Carmine Mancini
