Austin support fund
On January 1, 2017 Austin Benavidez was in a life threatening car accident. This 20 year old son of Jessica's is in need of prayer and financial support. As Austin lays in the hospital fighting for his life, his family is focused on his well being. Unfortunately there is a huge financial obligation that goes along with this. I am setting this medical fund up to allow Jessica and Greg to be by his side, cover medical expenses and any related rehabilitation and physical therapy .
January 4th 2017 update:
Austins morning started with 2 procedures. The 1st procedure was to insert an inferior vena cava filter or IVC filter. Its a small cone-shaped device that is implanted in the inferior vena cava just below the kidneys. The filter is designed to capture any blood clots that have broken loose from one of the deep veins in the legs on its way to the heart and lungs. That procedure went great. Next, they did and MRI on his brain. We found out Austin has a pretty big mountain in front of him that he has to climb and HE WILL CLIMB IT!!! The MRI determined he has Diffuse axonal injury (DAI). You can google it, emotionally its too much to get into right now. This is a very serious and scary prognosis. But..... Austin has been beating the odds all his life. The MRI also shows that due to the severed carotid arteries he has a lack of blood to his brain, he suffered a stroke paralyzing the right side of his body. The pressure in is head keeps fluctuating but they are able to keep it down with medications.
