It's truly an awful Catch-22 type of situation; she needs access to diagnostic screenings (MRI, possible CT scan, and x-rays, in addition to several new medicines for her multiple serious heart conditions that she simply cannot afford) in order be able to have the necessary medical records to appeal her disability claim.

She recently spent three days and two nights admitted in the hospital, due to a significant heart event. She was experiencing atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) to the point where she could not physically or mentally function. It was the longest episode to date. The doctors released her after finally managing to regulate her heartbeat, but informed her she absolutely needs several additional medicines for the rest of her life that she will just not be able to afford. 

In addition to recurrent atrial fibrillation, she has mitral valve prolapse (a weakened ventricle in the heart, causing blood to flow in the wrong direction between chambers), as well as supraventricular tachycardia. She also has high blood pressure, and significant muscular/skeletal issues such as spinal stenosis and sciatica. She also is in dire need of a hip and knee replacement, unable to stand for more than 10-15 minutes at a time, with serious swelling and inflammation to combat afterwards that leaves her barely able to walk to stand at all for the next couple days. Her glasses have also expired years ago, and she is unable to see clearly without a new prescription. Again, sadly, that's just not a possibility. 

The local health department is able to provide free exams for her, so that is how she has confirmed these conditions. However, the health department is unable to provide medical treatment, only diagnostic. They were able to write her a prescription for an MRI, so she can get her back looked at. 

Now she is faced with finding a way to pay for all of this, the hospitalized visit included on top of everything else. And with no transportation to appointments. To be honest, the truth is that I'm very scared. I just wish I was rich and could make all of this happen for her, so at least she would have the medical records/documentation necessary to qualify, and receive the ongoing medical care that she needs. 

It is very hard to make something like this, and share it with my friends and family. But the truth is that I feel helpless enough and humbled enough to put pride aside, and just put this out there. 

I need a miracle for my mom. 

That's the long and short of it. She hasn't even had access to a car in 3 years, or access to a personal physician in 8 years. I'm simply at a loss.
