Help Jason and Rebekah

A few months ago, I didn't even know Rebekah Carter. But I knew her husband, Jason. Night after night he came to our house after a long day at his construction job to work on our "accidental" kitchen remodel. But I guess I really don't believe in accidents. Frequently, when Jason's van sat in the driveway while he worked, his wife and four little boys aged 18 months to 7 years sat in the van, too. I often invited the shy woman to come into the house, but she usually refused. I noticed her shorn head and bandanna. Slowly, Jason told me their story.

Rebekah has Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. She's been treated with chemo for a year. She'll have to be on chemo the rest of her life.

Their one working vehicle has 180,000 miles on it, as well as four worn tires, three of them patched. This van also currently needs $2200 worth of repair work.

When Rebekah found she was unable to work because of chemo, Jason tried to keep up with the rent. One month ago, they were evicted. They had no place to go. That's when the "accidental" kitchen remodel turned into an opportunity for blessing. That's when they moved in with us.

There's a lot ahead for the little family, beginning in two days--mastectomy, Thanksgiving, intensive radiation, Christmas, and more chemo. Rebekah won't be able to lift even a gallon of milk for 6-10 weeks. We've told her and Jason they can stay with us through June to save up money and to let the boys finish their school year.

People have been kind. Two church groups bought clothes and shoes for all the boys and school supplies for the two oldest. An Orthopedics group is providing Christmas for them. People are bringing meals. Some have offered to babysit.

What Rebekah and Jason still need is help with their van--enough money to keep it running and make it safe or, better yet, enough to buy a replacement with lower mileage. Will you partner with us to bless this little family and get them on their feet again? Any amount helps. All funds will go directly to Jason and Rebekah.

Thank you so much for your kind consideration, and many blessings on you and yours,
