Beware of certified check
My name is Teresa, and I have found a family that needs help. I know this really good guy, who is just trying to raise his two teenage boys by himself. He does have a really good job.He shows up 2 hours early, to get all the trucks warmed up. Anyhow this guy is barely making it financially. One day when he was trying to figure out how to buy groceries for the boys. So, he decided to sell his prized classic 1985 Ford truck on Craigslist, to pay bills, and make ends meet.A scammer took full advantage of him. This scammer was out of Texas, and his friend from Pennsylvania. The man from Texas said, "I want to buy your truck for your asking price of $1200.. Figuring the guy had to be a collector of Fords, he said okay., This guy asked him if he'd take a certified check, and he said yes, because they are guaranteed by the bank.Right? Then the man says, all I need you to do is send part of what I send you to my transportation company in Pennsylvania. Well, the check came from Sanfrancisco, Ca The check was written on the bank of New York. The man calls back, and tells him to cash it immediately, so that his transporter can be paid to come down and get the truck. Now the guys still unsure of this deal, so he takes the check to his local bank, and has the bank manager check it out. When she returns, she says the check is good . So he signs it, and takes the $2200 that's left to Walmart to do the transfer. Of course, now its cash. So, he buys groceries and pays his bills. Then the guy calls again, and says, my transportation company was in a serious accident in this last ice storm. I'm not going to buy the truck, they won't be coming. So send me back, all but $200 of the money. He says I can't. So the guy says resell the truck. And he says its not mine to sell, its yours, you bought it. Now the guys mad, cause he can't get the money back, or tell his name. Yes, he took all of this to the police station, and also talked to a detective. It's hard to catch them, tho. 3 days later, the bank sent him a letter, Bad Check, you have 10 days to pay back $3200. He said, you told me it was good .They said, you signed it... Good guys don't always win. The latest scam is about getting a call, with the phrase... Can you hear me Now? When you answer, Yes, they record your voice , and call you later, letting you hear, that you just took out a loan , that you agreed to. Be Careful Out There.....
