We are a 501c3 equine rescue in the Upstate of SC. We take in horses that are needing a safe place to land, rehabilitating them and doing what we can to find them forever homes.

Sonny came to us in July of 2015. He was anemic and very thin. His hooves were in horrible shape. We put him on a special feeding regimen and he blossomed. He gained his optimal weight and kept the weight on. For 1 year he was doing great and ready for a home. 

Recently his Anemia came back with a vengence. He has lost most of his body weight and his hooves have become horribly cracked. 

He is back on a special feeding regimen getting 8 lbs of Triple Crown Complete AND senior, 1 lb of alfalfa pellets, Omega weight booster ( 1/2 lb) plus a flake of ozark bermuda hay and a flake of alfalfa hay. He is fed 3 x a day.

He is not gaining weight as he should and more extensive blood work is needed. He had blood work done 3 weeks ago which showed anemia and the vet is believing there is another auto immune disease going on. Sonny may even have to go to a specialist to see what is going on.

Sonny is only 6 years old, and he does not deserve to have to suffer all of this. Please help us help Sonny and get him back to his healthy loving self!

We really could use help with ongoing feed costs for him. Triple Crown is 21.50 per bag and we go through a bag in 2 days. Red cell is to help him build more red blood cells to fight the anemia. The Omega weight booster is extra fat to help with weight gain and probiotics is for his immune system. We have also started him on Aloe Juice but we go through a bottle of that in a week.

What Will I Do With The Money? We will be getting more extensive blood work done, will be getting a specialist to consult about Sonny's condition and will be continuing his feeding regimen. We will also be getting a farrier who specializes in severe cracks and corrective trimming and shoeing for Sonny.
