As you all know, Hurricane Helene wiped out my son and daughter-in-law's home and most of their belongings. They were renting and trying to save to buy a home. Now they have to start over with next to nothing to call their own. What people don't understand is, that there are really basic things that come up after a disaster like this that cost so much money- like simply trying to wash the clothes that were submerged in not only salt water, but sewage. They have to use sanitizer and go to a laundromat and wash each load at least twice... costing at least $11/wash. The amount of garbage bags, gloves, bleach etc that they use is huge. Not to mention the basic necessities that they need to replace. They will also need to get a storage unit to place what things they could save (it's not much) and the things they are able to get, while they look for a new place to live- which means money upfront. Also, my son was working at TradeWinds Resort, which is not going to be operational again for at least a couple months. That means no paycheck. So many of you have asked how you can help, so I created this as a means to help them get what they need. My son is not a fan of this idea, but if you know him at all, you know he would do anything for anybody- and has, so he is more than deserving of receiving this help. Both of them are giving and caring individuals who make me so incredibly proud every single day. If you are able to help, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know that so many were devastated by this storm, and many even more so than these two, so I appreciate you choosing to help them. It's hard enough these days for young adults to get by, without a natural disaster coming along and making it even harder! Again, thank you, and may it come back to you twofold.
