Our Francis is a sweet, lovable boy. He is autistic. Francis struggles with daily anxiety, frequent meltdowns, and sensory issues. He also has difficulty making friends and interacting with others, especially at home, but he loves dogs and is instantly soothed when interacting with them. (He is pictured here with his uncle's dog.) A service dog, mainly for emotional support, would be ideal.

Believe it or not, appropriate and properly trained service dogs are very expensive. Beside the dog and training, there are other expenses, including fencing, vet bills, etc. There is significant variability in models for service dogs/training alone, but you can figure on starting with at least $9,000, and we have seen costs up to at least $30-60,000.00. We figure we will fall somewhere in between. Should we raise anything in excess of our needs (highly unlikely), this money will go into a fund for the dog's upkeep, including vet expenses, grooming, food, doghouse, and the like.
