A Heart for Doug Davis
Doug Davis has lived and worked in the Indianapolis area for approximately 41 years, the last 6 years he started his own business as a master carpenter. Doug is a kind and generous man who improved customer's homes while becoming part of their families during the process. Doug is a wonderful son, brother, uncle and a proud Father to Kodey Davis, grandfather to Zion Davis, and a loyal friend to many, many people.
Around mid-July Doug became extremely sick with what he thought was Cold and Flu and it never seemed to go away. On August 1st Doug began struggling with breathing, losing strength, and vomiting. Doug's MD insisted it was nothing more than a severe Sinus infection. Finally on Monday August 7th he called his best Friend Donnie due to shortness of breath, to take him to the Emergency Room and this is when the story begins to turn tragic.
Doug was diagnosed with Pneumonia along with a prior heart attack and his heart only performing at 10% to 15% which resulted in both kidney and liver failure. With the help of the Riverview Hospital staff, they managed to stabilize him and move him the next day to St. Vincent Ascension Hospital. This is when they performed a Cath lab procedure to check the pressures in his heart. During the procedure they discovered that he had Aortic Stenosis due to a leaking heart valve. It was at this time they inserted emergency Balloon pump to assist his heart. The next day Doug was moved to Ascension Heart Center where they performed more heart repair surgeries and placed him into a deep sleep in order to perform dialysis and a ventilator to maintain his breathing. Saturday Morning August 12th was moved back to St. Vincent to monitor his status. The current assessment on Doug's condition is that a mechanical heart may be needed so that Doug can return to a normal lifestyle.
With Doug being self employed he has no income coming in at this time and his life is very uncertain on earning an income until he is repaired and healed. Many of his friends and family have reached out to us and asked how they can donate money to Doug to alleviate any monetary impact or medical care he may need to get this wonderful man back happy and healthy.
My name is June Ridge Smith, and my husband is Kevin Smith who Doug would supply his carpentry and many other skills for 6 years. Kevin and I are facilitating this donation site as an avenue for friends and family to donate money to Doug directly. My goal is to raise 60,000 to 70,000 but anything extra would be so amazing.
In advance God Bless all of you for all your prayers and generosity.
