A House for George
Pamoja ni Nguvu (Togetherness is strength)
Meet George. George lives in Malindi Kenya. George is a boda boda (think motorcycle) driver and occasionally drives a lorry (think semi-truck). George is married to Emily Sheriana and has four children (baby Ezekiel, Paul, Ryan, and Michael the eldest who I hear is very very smart).
George works hard and always has a smile on his face. Prior to the pandemic, he made about $140 a week, now he's lucky if he makes about $70. George is able to save some, but with mouths to feed and school fees to pay it's difficult to afford his dream of one day owning his own home for his family.
George is the only one that Antony has trusted me with since I arrived. George has shown me the Malindi most never get to see and has protected me every step along the way. But George hasn't just given to me, he has graciously given his friendship to Antony since he moved to Malindi and knew no one.
Antony and I want to give something back to George. We want to build him a house. But we can't do that alone, we need your help. Antony taught me a Swahili phrase that says, "Pamoja ni nguvu," meaning, "Togetherness is strength."
So together let's build George that house!
