Homeless: A Place for Jan

Please help Jan who is homeless because of severe environmental illness.

We'd like to buy her a used camper to sleep in. Would you please consider donating $68 or more? Any amount is much appreciated.

THANKS for reading this and considering it!

Sincerely, Marie Long and family

Jan is a wonderful, intelligent, 73 year old woman, and a dear, faithful friend of mine. Many years ago, she was a healthy, active, and busy marketing representative and speaker. Then she was poisoned with carbon monoxide over two winters until the problem of a faulty furnace was discovered. She nearly died. It destroyed her immune system and her body's ability to detoxify dangerous chemicals, leaving her with severe environmental illness, and unable to work. Years later, two more major chemical exposures worsened her condition - mercury and radiation toxicity, which were caused by her swallowing a mercury filling and being given 11 non-digital x-rays at the same dental visit. She has not recovered. Everyday products make her very ill, like pesticides, fragrances, and laundry detergents. [Synthetic chemicals and perfumes in them are toxic – check out https://www.ewg.org/consumer-guides].

Because of her body's severe reactions to toxins, she has not been able to find a safe place to rent with her limited SSD funds. She has been HOMELESS for years, currently sleeping in a friend's car. She cannot use a homeless shelter because of fragrances, disinfectants, etc. Many apartments and homes contain toxins like: formaldehyde in building materials such as glues, flooring, paints, carpeting; mold, and plug-in air fresheners, fragrant laundry products, and pest treatments (toxic fragrances and pesticides permeate walls).

A safe, comfortable place to rest and sleep

Good friends of ours are selling their little, toxic free camper. (The husband has suffered with severe chemical sensitivity for years after being injured in a chemical fire, as a fire fighter.) It will allow Jan a safe place to stretch out to sleep, and also to have a safe place to keep clothes and some items. It is wired with electricity and has a battery to run a heater. She is able to park it on a friend's property. Additionally, we'd like to supply a working back door to a minivan that was given to her so it driveable.

Please help provide a safe sleeping place and transportation for Jan.

$3400 will cover the cost of the camper, delivery, taxes and fees, along with a van door and installation.

Any funds exceeding our goal will be used to address some pressing health needs, such as critical dental work.

We could meet our goal if 50 people give $68!

Jan is a giver. She amazes me with the love and care she has for others - even in the midst of her difficulties addressing daily needs of shelter, water, quality food, clean clothes, a clean body, and health care. She makes time to bless others, often sacrificing her needs. Here's a few recent examples: she grocery shops for an elderly friend with the friend's car, more than once she has given a carnation to cheer each clerk at a grocery store, she sat with a woman on drugs for hours then drove her home when her ride didn't come. She does these things even though it causes her much physical pain and discomfort.

Please help Jan. She will be forever grateful!

Thank you!

We'd appreciate your prayers for her and for God to bless this fundraiser. :)
