Accessible Van for Krista

Krista was diagnosed at the age of 2 with a progressive disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2. SMA is a progressive disease where all the muscles will continue to waste away over time, leaving Krista with a shortened life span and the inability to perform daily tasks. Currently there is NO cure for SMA. Krista attends therapy weekly to try and maintain as much muscle strength as possible (which is very little). Krista has always been dependent on a wheelchair to get around and needs full care throughout the day. Although this horrible disease has and will limit Krista in her daily life and for years to come, it doesn't stop her from dreaming and being a vibrant, smart, caring child who is ALWAYS willing to help someone else if she can. Krista would love to be a Police Officer when she grows up (working in an office of course) and I'm sure with some help, she will not let anything get in her way. I am asking for help to raise money to put towards the purchase of a handicap van for Krista. Currently Kristas father and I are lifting Krista in and out of vehicles, and this has proven to be a challenge. Krista has recently suffered a few foot injuries due to us trying to get her in and out of the vehicle. Her father is also having some back trouble. Krista is currently around 76lbs and will only continue to grow. We are at the point where it is not safe for us to continue to do this. Without having a handicap van, Kristas quality of life just won't be the same! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Kristas father and I want to be able to give Krista the gift of freedom. With a handicap van, Krista will be able to continue with therapy, make all of her Dr appointments and be out in the community when it becomes safer from Covid.
