Action for Post Soviet Jewry
Hello:
My name is Daniel and I will become a Bar Mitzvah on January 13, 2018. As part of my Bar Mitzvah project, I decided to help an organization called Action for Post Soviet Jewry. This organization helps Jewish communities in place such as Moldova, Ukraine and parts of Russia. As some of you might know, I am actually the first person in my family to be born in America. As as I have been given the gift of living in a place where I am allowed to practice my religion as I please, surrounded by other Jews, I feel I should give to others who are not as lucky as I am. I would like to help the Jewish community in Moldova in part because my Mom's side of the family is from there. In communicating with the organization, I learned that their Jewish community needs clothes for the winter and school supplies for the kids as they are not a wealthy community. I would greatly appreciate it if you could donate items such as gently used shoes, boots and sneakers; warm items like sweaters, vests, hats, scarves gloves or mittens; new socks, new shirts. School supplies such as notebooks, markers, pens, colored pencils colored paper, pads of paper, rulers, erasers. We may be a small grade but we have the power to do great things for others. If each student brings one article of clothing and one school supply item, everything would really add up. Whenever you get these items, please drop them off in locker 262 in the middle school hallway. I really appreciate your help.
For those of you who would rather contribute money, we've set up this fundraising campaign to help this organization and all proceeds will go directly to them to purchase the needed items or we will purchase the items on their behalf and send them to the community in Moldova. Please feel free to donate any amount you can.
Daniel
