Amanda's 1st Class Seat

Amanda Spencer is a United States OIF/OEF Navy Veteran that was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. She went through her vigorous chemotherapy treatments and was told she's not out of the woods yet. A few of us Navy buddies got together and wanted to lift her spirits. Us knowing Amanda for years, she's always such a motivated spirit that is constantly working on her fitness and nutrition goals. Since her diagnosis, we wanted to do something to help her out- she's still no victim but victorious. Of course being a human, we all have, currently, or will deal with scary life changing events in our own way. Amanda has been absolutely transparent about her journey and below is her recent sharing of this uphill battle. The goal of this fundraiser is to get enough money for our friend to purchase a recliner that can help with regulating her internal temperature, ease her physical pain from chemotherapy, and overall relax her body so it focuses on healing.

“Sometimes….. I stop and contemplate why me? I'm not asking for pity just trying to understand…and have yet to get an ideal answer. One of the best things about this is I have no children I can pass it on to. some have been asking do I want to have children, and it forces me to explain. PTEN is a condition similar in BRACA + if you know about that. PTEN has its own array of issues, but because the va doesn't see it often (1/250000) the people don't get it. Yes I am one. It hurts when I go see new doctors and they talk down to me when in reality I'm the first PTEN patient most of them have seen. I try and keep the peace but have to continue to advocate because literally no one will. I have always been positive with my care..”

Anyone that has lived through the trials and tribulations of cancer treatment (or any form of a health crisis) may understand that the physical pain and anxiety doesn't stop after the hours of chemotherapy. The side effects are absolutely grueling and it effects most, if not all, corners of health and wellness for that individual. We want to see Amanda thrive and climb this mountain! Any amount is enormously appreciated. God bless!
