Amy’s MFA Theatre course
Theatre changed my life. It gave me confidence, purpose, and a place to create. I graduated with a degree in the performing arts nearly 15 years ago, and although life took me in many directions, theatre has always remained a central part of who I am.
Choosing to raise a family at a young age meant I knew there would be a time when I would return to my education — and that time is now. Fifteen years later, I am pursuing my Master of Fine Arts in Theatre, so that one day I can teach and mentor future high school and college students as they discover their voices through the arts.
I will continue working full time doing what I love — teaching English and Performing Arts — while also juggling family life with my three amazing kids. It will mean late study nights and less sleep, but I believe wholeheartedly that it will be worth it.
Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward tuition for my part-time, three-year MFA program hosted online by the University of Surrey, costs approximately $27,000 in total - $9,000 per year. I'm asking for support for the first year, to get off the ground. By supporting this goal, you are not just helping me earn a postgraduate terminal degree — you are investing in future classrooms, stages, and students who need someone to believe in them.
Thank you for supporting this next step in my academic journey and for believing in the transformative power of theatre and education.
