For the past couple years we have been struggling with a variety of health issues that have really added up emotionally and financially.

Brian has Lyme disease and alpha-gal syndrome which have caused him to have a variety of secondary issues such as MCAS, dysautonomia, neurological struggles, joint pain, muscle weakness, etc.

Zion is struggling with some of the same issues that Brian is as well as hypermobile spectrum disorder. Zion's dysautonomia causes him to have both low blood pressure and unstable blood sugars especially when in flares. He has a lot of joint pain and subluxations that make it difficult for him to get out of bed in combination with dizziness. While he has dealt with some joint issues for a while, our family had an illness last spring that seemed to trigger more issues for him, Brian, myself, and Miriam.

While we do have coverage for some of are expenses, most expenses are out-of-pocket, especially when it comes to treating Lyme and many aspects of dysautonomia and MCAS. We have started to build, at least for the children, a much better medical team than we started with and our current PCP is very integrative. She is trying to help us get more resources but the process can be slow and the needs are daily in the meantime.

Some things that we're trying to fund at the moment are mobility aids for Zion to help get him out of bed and more active, a hospital bill that is not otherwise covered, herbal Lyme treatments, and some miscellaneous one time and ongoing expenses.
