Anissa's Fund
Dear Friends of Anissa,
We are saddened to share with you of the passing of our friend and lifetime ATA member, Anissa Cottongim.
As a testament to her years of volunteer work and dedication to the Trakehner breed, Anissa was the recipient of the Barton Trophy in 2020 for exemplary service to the ATA. The loss of this friend and fellow breeder is immensely felt across our community.
Anissa celebrated the success of Trakehner horses as a way of life, fostering relationships and a spirit of camaraderie to all within her reach. She was also passionate about the quality of horses bred in North America and promoting North American breeders.
In her memory, and to honor her legacy, her family and the ATA are joining to create “Anissa's Fund,” which will contribute directly to the ATA's Special Board of Director's Award. This $10,000 award, last presented to Christine Turner for Tsetserleg TSF *Pg* in 2018, is designated for the owner of any ATA-registered Trakehner foaled in North America that represents the USA or Canada on an Olympic or World Championship team that competes in dressage, combined training or jumping. If the horse was also bred in North America, the Board will award an additional $1,000 to the breeder of the horse.
It is the wish of her family that contributions be made to this fund in her name in lieu of flowers. Please direct all questions to the ATA office at 386.776.1269 or [email protected]
