This new year has started as a very upsetting year for my mom & her salon, Annette's Feather Cuts. Her buildings' pipes froze between her floor and the floor above her when we had those below freezing days/nights around Christmas time. Of course as soon as it got above freezing & the pipes started to unthaw, 2 of the pipes burst in the unoccupied apartment above her salon.

That morning started like any other morning, she got up and ready for work, but when she pulled up out front of her salon she couldn't believe her eyes. There was ice thawing down the front of her salon outside & down the sidewalk. Walking into her shop was one of the most heart breaking things for her. All of the ceiling tiles were soaked and on the floor, the carpet was soaked and all of her salon equipment was drenched as the water was still on and coming in her salon. My mother has insurance however, the amount they told her she is being granted is nowhere near enough to get her business that she started over a decade ago back up and running again. All of her electrical equipment (hair clippers & trimmers, hair dryer, seated hair dryer, lamps, curling irons/straightener, etc.) need to be replaced as well as furnishings (station, client station chair, client waiting chairs, etc.) She's been out of work since this situation occurred. Her salon is her only source of income. Her clients and the relationships that they have built over the years is what she looks forward to when she goes to work every day. She loves being able to get creative with clients hair when they say to give them a new style or when they want to experiment with new colors.

My hope is that we can raise some money for her so that, along with the insurance money, is able to buy the necessary equipment & furnishings to open her doors again && get back to doing what she loves and has been doing for the last 3 decades.

I don't plan to make it to the goal amount, that's just estimating prices. Anything is better than nothing to get my mom back in her salon.
