My car was illegally repossessed by my finance company. I work as a diesel mechanic, and my job requires me to be on call , traveling wherever a big rig might break down. My main work lot in Columbus, Ohio is about a 45-minute drive one way. I live in a small village in the country, with the nearest town 7 miles away. A few months ago, I bought a 2014 Ford Edge with 68,000 miles, i put down $4,000, everything I had. A factory warranty that included roadside assistance was included. Just three days after getting the car, it broke down far from home. When I called for roadside assistance, I was told I didn’t have an active account, even though it was in my contract. I had to take an Uber home and, by the time I returned with a tow truck, my car was already gone. Credit Acceptance, the company I financed through, told me they would retrieve the car from the tow lot and return it to me at no charge, but after weeks of daily calls and promises, they never did. Instead, they let the tow bill rack up to 900 dollars, then claimed I had surrendered the car to Credit Acceptance because I couldn’t pay the fee. I recorded every call, and I know they never intended to help me. Now im in the process of having the Ohio Attorney General handle it. I later learned that everything i was going through with these people was an echo of all the multitudes of complaints and lawsuits they have earned. They are under investigation. Since losing my car, I haven’t been able to work for a month and a half. My bills are due, and I’m scared of losing everything I’ve worked for. I love my job and take pride in providing for my family, but without a car, I can’t get to work or respond to emergency calls.I cant even get to the grocery store. I’m asking for help to put a down payment on a reliable vehicle so I can get back on my feet, return to work, and give my family the security they deserve. If i can just come up with the down payment I won't have any problems from that point on. *(THE ONLY REASON OUR FUNDS AND SAVINGS WERE AT ZERO AFTER THE DOWN PAYMENT ON THE FORD EDGE WAS BECAUSE MY BEST FRIEND COMMITTED SUICIDE AND I PAID FOR HIM TO BE BURIED) , Any support you can give would mean the world to me right now.
