ask...

"Until now you have not asked [the Father] for anything in My name; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be full and complete." John 16:24

I don't know why the enemy has convinced us that we shouldn't ask for help...that we should be able to manage everything on our own...we can't. This is out of my introverted comfort zone, but the Lord has been nudging my heart to ask...to speak up and ask. The girls and I need help.

Many of you know our story. Gwenyth, Grailyn and I have been on our own since September as I navigate the painful waters of divorce. I have been working diligently on earning my bachelor's in Elementary Education and will be student teaching this fall, completing my degree. By God's sovereign grace, I have a teaching position waiting for me as soon as I finish school. The reason I am being humbled to ask for help is this season in-between. The girls and I do not have consistent financial support. I have been attempting to advocate for myself throughout these past eight months but despite my best efforts, I do not have the skill set to wrestle the opposing attorneys and the legal system. I met with Tacoma Pro Bono as well as the Northwest Justice Project and while they were able to advise me, they are not able to represent us. I contacted dozens of attorneys to ask if they had the capacity to take on a pro bono case but unfortunately that avenue proved unfruitful as well. I have spoken with an attorney who is willing and able to advocate for us but does require a retainer to proceed. Given our dire situation, we do not have the resources to retain legal help.

At the encouragement of several dear friends, I am reaching out to you. We are in need of the retainer fee required to move forward with legal representation. I know most of us are not in a place to give a large amount, but I am standing in faith that a little will add up to enough. If you are unable to give financially, please know that I empathize and would be blessed to have your prayers. We are so grateful for your generous love and support. I know that when we arrive on the other side of this storm, we will look back and so clearly see the footprints of Christ carrying us through…and as the hands and feet of Jesus, ya'll are also the reason we will be restored. Thank you doesn't seem like enough, but thank you. The girls and I will forever be indebted to your faithfulness.

With His grace…

Kirsten, Gwenyth and Grailyn
