Athena's Vet Bills
We adopted Athena on New Years Day. She was a perfectly normal, fluffy golden retriever puppy! In February we thought she had an ear infection so we brought her into the vet and they gave her drops. After her drops she was still tilting her head and her ears seemed to bother her so we brought her in again, more antibiotics.
Athena's condition only continued to worsen, her head tilted always one way or the other and very poor balance to the point where she couldn't go up and down the stairs. We brought her to another vet and got a second opinion only for them to tell us she has a rare genetic condition causing neurological issues and she will progress quickly and need to be euthanized. Shortly after this visit Athena began having seizures.
My friend graciously offered to take Athena to the U of M Small Veterinary Hospital where they observed her for around 2 hours. They cannot confirm a diagnosis for what they observed until they complete an MRI.
The MRI will be $3500 so we are asking help covering the expenses of her. Any donations will greatly help us figure out what is going on with our poor girl! This is only the beginning of her vet bills, we are not sure how much her actual treatment will even cost yet.
Athena is so sweet and snuggly that we hate the idea of just having her euthanized when she might have a chance at life.
