Axels Craniosynostosis Surgery

Our miracle baby, Axel, was born on September 24th, 2018. He came out perfect, but we just learned he has a condition called Craniosynostosis.
The sutures in his skull have fused prematurely causing deformation and putting pressure on his brain. In his case, it is a genetic mutation that just naturally occurred without cause.

The only solution is invasive skull surgery to correct this. Without the surgery, pressure on the brain can cause blindness, mental retardation, and an array of other developmental issues. We are meeting with the surgery team this coming week and have surgery scheduled for March 14th.

They will remove part of his skull allowing his brain to continue normal growth. His head will swell, eyes may swell shut for a few days, and we were told he may need a blood transfusion. He will have a zigzag incision from ear to ear. He will wear a helmet following surgery to help to reshape his skull.

Jason and I will need to take time off from work to care for him and we are asking for help to cover travel expenses, out of pocket surgery expenses, and help with our own bills while off from work. Thank you in advance for your support during this extremely trying time in our lives.
