Banner Thomas' Widow's Fund
Banner Thomas was unexpectedly taken from this world on April 10th, 2017 due to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Many people knew him as the bass player for the original Molly Hatchet band. His friends and family knew him as a humble man of faith, with a giving heart and a great sense of humor. My sister DeeDee knew him as the love of her life, her darling husband, her best friend and soulmate, her rock.
Banner and DeeDee met at the Florida Theatre during the Jacksonville premiere of Free Bird The Movie, and a love story was born. They have been together for 20 years, supporting each other through everything life brings. Banner loved DeeDee like there was no tomorrow. And suddenly there are no tomorrows. Even in his passing, their love story continued, as he surprised everyone in the hospital room by coming back from beyond for a good 5 to 10 minutes when he heard DeeDee's voice at his ER bedside. Long enough to spend his last few minutes on this earth with her. He turned his head, looked her in the eyes one last time, and then crossed over to play with the angels for eternity.
No one can be prepared for such a sudden, tragic passing. Emotions alone are a roller coaster of ups and downs. And then there's the stress of the costs. The medical expenses. The unexpected legal costs. Even the day-to-day bills have been a struggle since Banner had to miss a lot of work while he was sick, and DeeDee did as well in order to stay home with him - at his request - to be his caregiver and companion. Now, she can no longer work due to her own medical issues.
This campaign is intended to provide some relief to DeeDee for those costs, to make sure that the most difficult thing she's ever had to do, say goodbye to her Banner, doesn't have to be compounded by financial burdens.
