Hi I'm Baxter!

I came from a shelter in Florida, but now I live in Brooklyn with my cat brother Goliath and my human companions Billy and Kevin. I sure do love it here. There are so many smells in the air and plenty of random stuff on the sidewalk for me to taste. One time, I even found a magic spaghetti tree! But that's a story for another day. I love where I live cause I'm right down the street from my best friend Matty, her cat sister Edie, and her human companions Amanda and Peter. We have sleepovers all the time and sometimes we all go to the park together and it feels like the entire neighborhood is there! Seeing everyone makes me so excited I just bark and bark and bark until someone gives me a treat. It's great!

Lately, I've been peeing a lot and it's confusing. The doctor says it's because I have some cancer on my liver. I didn't go to medical school or anything, but the liver seems like an ok place for that to happen, right? They say my condition is very treatable, but fixing it requires a really expensive surgery. Like, I don't even know if there's that much money in the whole world! But I also didn't go to accounting school so maybe I'm wrong about that part.

I'm feeling ok. I've just been a little slower than usual and I really have to pee all of the time. My humans seem to be giving me extra attention and that's nice. But I wish they were less sad. Maybe if they had enough money for the surgery, everyone would feel better? All the doctor has to do is remove the part of my liver that has the cancer on it and I'll be just fine! And hey you know what, maybe if we raise more money than the surgery costs, we'll give the extras to my old shelter in Florida!
