Hello folks! My name is Bill Martin, a Sugar Land resident who's son is active in high school sports and as a sports fanatic, someone who is quite aware of the tireless efforts supporting these activities by one Bert Brocker. I have not personally met the gentleman, but familiar with him also with his call ins on SportsRadio 610. That said, I am now starting this campaign after having seen 610's John Lopez post about Bert and his situation on his Facebook page yesterday. Bert and his wife Cindy who live in Humble and along with thousands of Houston area residents, suffered major storm damage this past week as a result of Hurricane Harvey, a monster 800 year storm. The story of what happened to Bert though is best described by him, and rather than state something wrong, I'm quoting his words in the comments he sent to me this afternoon:

"I live on Lake Houston and was told to evacuate on Saturday there was water coming around my house.  Cindy and I did went to our Texanlive building on Saturday. At 2:30am my wife woke me up screaming saying we are taking on water and we had 3 inches in the building & when I looked outside it was 18 inches on my truck tires. We got our 3 dogs, 2 bags of clothes and medicine and went to gas station. I was fortunate I have a friend that answered and he allowed us to come there for the night.

The next morning as we started to evaluate everything here is a picture of my house (as now shown as cover photo) and water that went all the way to 1960 putting over 4 to 5 foot into the Texanlive building".

At that time, the damage started to become painfully evident with initial review showing these items totally ruined:

•    (10) Cameras
•    (10) Gaming Laptops
•    Tricksters
•    Lights
•    Studio Headsets

Houston area residents are the best when it comes to helping their neighbors in need and Bert is one of them. While there are untold numbers of charities and individuals who need financial assistance, we should not overlook Bert who has tirelessly worked to provide extensive airtime in a professional way for many of our sports playing kids, maybe even yours. And while high school football has currently been delayed, it will thankfully begin anew this weekend and the loss of Bert's labor here would be sorely missed.
