Help a Young Family Escape Poverty & Save a Life

Hello, my name is Jane N, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your kindness and support during the most difficult chapter of our lives.

My husband and I live in a neighborhood in Canada where drug and alcohol use is sadly very common. We’ve witnessed things that every parent should have to worry about including the moment our 2-year-old son picked up a used cigarette butt from our shared deck and tried to put it in his mouth. That moment was heartbreaking, terrifying, and it reminded us just how urgent it is to move our little boy into a safer environment.

We've been working hard to save for a down payment on our very first home, a place where we can raise our child in safety and dignity. Every dollar we saved was a step closer to giving him the secure future he deserves. But a devastating scam set us back more than we could afford. We were defrauded out of $13,000 USD by a company known as Lightening Shared Scooters Company (LSSC). Despite our efforts, we’ve been unable to recover the money.

As if that wasn't enough, we’ve recently received heartbreaking news from our home country, Burundi. A beloved aunt who helped raise us is in urgent need of life-saving heart surgery. The medical bills are estimated at 25,000,000 Burundian Francs (~10,000 USD), and she does not have the means to afford the care she needs.

We now find ourselves at a crossroads torn between providing our child a safe home, supporting a family member in a medical emergency, and simply surviving in today’s harsh economic climate.
