If you’re reading this, you probably already know at least some of what Bev and her family have been going through — but the full reality is heartbreaking.

Because of a serious builder defect, Bev’s home became overrun with mold and ultimately uninhabitable. Bev, her elderly mother Joyce, and her daughter Emma have all been diagnosed with mold-related illness and are now undergoing ongoing treatment. Since August, the three of them have been separated, living in different places, trying to stay safe while carrying the weight of uncertainty every single day.

During all of this, Bev has still been paying her mortgage, utilities, and medical costs while also replacing or cleaning everything she possibly can. The mold destroyed mattresses, bedding, pillows, paper goods, open food, office supplies — almost anything porous had to be thrown out. The emotional shock of losing so much, the physical exhaustion of packing and cleaning, and the financial strain of testing and supplements (already thousands of dollars) have taken a tremendous toll.

And now the repair costs to make the home safe again are staggering. The builder has refused to take responsibility. The legal process is slow and uncertain. Insurance won’t cover any of it. Right now, Bev and her family are stuck — waiting, displaced, sick, and carrying this burden alone.

This situation is, in every way, as devastating as a house fire… except there’s no emergency help, no insurance relief, and no timeline for when life will feel normal again.

As Bev’s friends, we couldn’t just sit back and watch her shoulder this alone. Bev has opened her home to so many of us — for game nights, holidays, support, laughter, and even temporary housing for those who needed it. She has given her time, her heart, and her space generously.

Now she’s the one who needs a community.

We’re asking for your help — urgently — to lessen the financial blow, replace what was lost, and help Bev reclaim her home so she can finally bring her family back together under one safe roof.
