Dear Family & Friends,
We want to start off by thanking everyone for the positive words of encouragement and the support that the community has given to us and it is greatly appreciated. Thank YOU in advance for any contribution or gift you may have given to our continued growth and development of Third Eye Books Accessories and Gifts LLC. Thank You!
Our Story:
Who We Are:
We have been traveling to Egypt for the past four years. Our first trip was with Queen Afua and the Sacred Woman Program. Our last three visits to Egypt have been with Kemet Nu Tours. On our fist trip with Kemet Nu Tours, we had the opportunity to renew our wedding vows along the banks of the Nile River. Now, after our third trip. We were given new names. These names were chosen by Ashra & Merira Kwesi last summer The names we now go by are (Charles) Tehuti Neferhotep & (Michelle) Seshat Neferhotep.
Third Eye Books Accessories & Gifts is more than a bookstore. It's a soft place to land during hard times. It's truly a space with "No Judgement." A place that feeds the mind, body, and soul.
The owners, Seshat and Tehuti began their dream in 2019 as local vendors of fashion accessories and books written for and by Black, Brown, and Indigenous peoples.
During the pandemic, we were forced to close down their shared community space and move into a Extra Space storage locker and a back bedroom of their apartment. Without a doubt. It was both challenging and frustrating during that time period, but with overwhelming guidance from our ancestors and support from the community. We emerged with confidence and a new vision to move forward.
Third Eye Books eventually landed in their current space at 2518 SE 33rd Ave in January 2021. We were able to transform a small 500 sq ft house into a "oasis" of knowledge and information. After seizing the opportunity to rent an adjacent building, we were able to fulfill their dreams of having an "wellness" space for the community. This opportunity has been a blessing in so many ways. Countless people have shared their stories of being "seen and heard" inside both spaces.
The Bookstore:
Seshat and Tehuti believe in the transformative power of stories told through diverse perspectives.
Their carefully curated collection spans everything from enchanting children's books that celebrate melanated heroes to self-care guides written specifically with communities of color in mind.
When a young reader discovers characters that look like them in the pages of the books on offer, magic happens!
They have hosted or participated in hundreds of community events over the past five plus years. Everything from popups, book clubs, art shows, author talks, school events, community conversations, theater presentations (movies), field trips, etc.
Here's a short list of some the amazing authors we have partnered with...
Keisha Ajose Fisher, Nikole Hannah Jones, Resmaa Menakem, Jacqueline Woodson, Nic Stone, Aaron & Elmer Dixon, Kent Ford Dr. Jen Mullan,Tricia Hersey, Derrick Barnes, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, Regina Jackson & Saira Rao, David F. Walker, Cebo Campbell and a host of others...
The Apothecary:
Step into Third Eye Wholistic Wellness and feel the immediate shift in energy - this magical place truly serves as a sanctuary for body, mind, and soul.
Handcrafted incense release gentle wisps of fragrant smoke, creating and atmosphere of tranquility and intention. At the heart of this healing haven stands Seshat, a high priestess of holistic healing and wellness, whose careful guidance helps each visitor find exactly what their spirit needs.
Her specially formulated teas, blended with knowledge passed through generations - offer more than just flavor: they provide pathways to balance and restoration that honor ancient wisdom in modern times.
Seshat uses Vibrational Sound Therapy, Reiki, and other energy therapy techniques to induce a state of relaxation, clear disturbances in the energy field, and restore the body's natural flow of energy.
Next Steps:
A new chapter begins as Third Eye Books embraces its pivot back to one location. We our having to say "goodbye" to our sister space at 3302 SE Division due to rising cost, tariffs, etc. The goal is to make Third Eye more streamlined and cost effective during these uncertain economic times. We plan on merging the spiritual sanctuary of the apothecary with the literary haven of the bookstore into one vision and space at 2518 SE 33rd Ave.
We stand at this anxious threshold, ready to create a more comprehensive space where healing modalities and diverse literature complement one another in perfect harmony. Our planned hybrid model embodies our commitment to building a cultural cornerstone where communities of all backgrounds can discover themselves through both literature and holistic wellness.
The plan is to establish Third Eye as a "destination" that has strong roots anchored in the community. We want to build a place that shatters stereotypes and a place that powerfully refutes limiting narratives. A place that shows all people that realizing your dreams and building longevity isn't just for others - it's your birthright too.
The Goal:
Is to raise $60,000. We have set plans in motion for renovations and development of the space to begin at the end of May. We have set a goal of opening the new Third Eye in the early part of June 2026. This will enable Third Eye to maintain a foothold.
We have received so much love, support, and gratitude from the community and from people across the globe for bringing Third Eye to the masses. We are excited to realize the vision of bringing the apothecary and bookstore under one roof.
But WE can't do it without the support and assistance from people like YOU and other change-makers. One thing is clear. Third Eye is here to stay, would YOU be willing to be a part of the next steps? Donate today!
Peace & Blessing
