Big Apple: The Platasso Story

"Platasso is a digital platform that includes both a social network and online arts-philosophy museum; a global community and cultural reform where philosophical musings and art appreciation converge."

Founder Laura Curwood has the opportunity to the build the Platasso platform in New York at Parsons School of Design, the second best design school in the world. Raising funds will allow Laura to accept her placement at Parsons and develop Platasso for two years. She will then return to Australia, ready to launch it into the global arts market.

From July the 1st to the 31st, Platasso will be live to raise funds of $100,000 in order to start studying at Parsons by August 27.

The way the current establishments present the arts do not even invite us to put ourselves into the works. Nor do they allow everyone to join in and enjoy all genres in one central place.

What you are investing in will culturally reform the arts and philosophy industries. You will be a part of building a holistically creative hub that centralises them all. You will provide the global community context to equally match the content. You will connect the arts world to the real one.

This July, donate and share with us your favourite piece of philosophy, literature, performance, music or art and tells us why it means something to you.

Please share the video, and join Big Apple today: https://youtu.be/LkZd7CazbWg

Private donors cover 100% of our costs to partner with Parsons, so you can give knowing your whole gift will help get us there.

Each contribution will draw us closer to creating the basic platform Platasso needs to test it in the market, form a solid team and accelerate growth. With your help, we will establish ourselves in the biggest arts market of the world for two years and return home with a market-ready product.

You will be updated on all news. And six months after we raise sufficient funds and get started in New York, you will be able to track Platasso's progress.

About Platasso

Platasso is a social, digital platform and online museum; a globally inclusive network where philosophical musings and art appreciation converge. The platform will nurture creative expression in individuals by being a communications tool. At the same time, it will also connect artists, collaborators and the wider community to come together.

People learn how to connect to a range of arts, through themselves, while artists and institutions can learn about their audience. Context is our focus. Platasso covers all genres of the arts, creating one centralised hub where the Platasso community can enjoy their preferred subjects, but discover others and how they can interconnect.
Platasso is an arts-philosophy social network and online museum designed for everyone and anyone. It's aim is to connect the wider community to all genres of art: music, performance, literature and art-- through philosophy.  It is an educational and cultural communications tool where we develop self awareness and have open discussions about it.
Platasso is a process: it will exhibit art content; then we open up with events, online tools and content, and an open forum to invite people to learn more about themselves through all arts. The end outcome will be that the individual then expresses what they discover, through creativity.

This project is all about engagement, transparency and unification. The art exhibition and associated arts content will be delivered through philosophical context and E.I.

About the New York Project; the Local and Global Impact

Founder Laura Curwood has been accepted to study her Masters of Strategic Design & Management at Parsons School of Design, starting this Fall semester (August 27). The degree is designed for "entrepreneurs looking to develop transformative business propositions for an evolving global economy".

Studying in the US will provide Platasso with the human, financial and technological resources to penetrate the competitive start-up market in Australia. Most notably, we will be optimising our growth by establishing ourselves in the arts capital and with the second best arts school. This high standard, for both New York and Parsons, is globally measured. Therefore, Platasso will start off by penetrating the arts market internationally.

Regarding the US arts market, ArtTactic's annual Global Art Market Outlook 2017 report findings suggest it is one of the markets with the strongest positive outlook this year. In 2015, Artsy reported NYC alone had over one thousand art galleries, over seventy-five museums and institutions, and over thirty art fairs. And its marketplace is bigger than others by a large measure.

Two-thirds of auction sales over $1 million take place in the New York. The city has degree-granting authority from the Regents of the state of New York and has been an accredited member of the National Association of Art and Design since 1989.

After two years of study at Parsons in New York, Platasso will bring home an innovative, digital product which is founded on Melbourne's arts and culture community: a community yet to make a true impact globally. Platasso wants to represent Melbourne's creative values: honesty, empathy and openness.

The US already has a thriving tech sector and the advantage of a huge market in which to test new products. A number of heavy hitters in Australia's tech scene have previously lamented the underwhelming government support for the technology sector. Honing into US' competitive advantages for initial startup establishment is a key ingredient for rapid growth.

Platasso will add value to Australia by celebrating its culture and supporting its innovative tech sector. After launching in Australia, we plan to expand to the rest of the world with our partner institutions.
