Baloo's Amputation

Hello everyone!

I am reaching out in a plea of desperation for my sweet long haired Russian Blue kitter cat. About a month ago, he became a picky eater. I imagined at the time that he was being just that - a picky eater. I made a vet appointment to have his mouth checked after several rounds of new and varying food options didn't change anything.

The night before the appointment, I was grooming him, and I noticed he was holding his leg oddly. I palpated the area and found a rather sizable lump inside his left hind leg on the inside of his knee. I am kicking myself for not knowing how long it has been there, and how long he has been suffering with this. I of course brought this to the vet's attention, and it turns out my sweet boy has a soft tissue sarcoma, and needs his leg amputated.

I am absolutely devastated, because I went in thinking we would need a dental done, and I came out with the conclusion that I am going to be the proud owner of a tripod kitter. On the plus side, direct quote from the vet: "His teeth are gorgeous!"

The vet is scheduling the surgery for November 2, 2023, and the pre op procedures (x-ray, bloodwork, etc) for October 30.

While I will absolutely have the surgery done regardless, this is not something that I was financially prepared for, as I have other unplanned expenses happening outside of this. If anyone can find it in their heart to donate, any amount will help. Anything not used towards the surgery will be donated (with proof) to a tripod rescue or something of the like, as I am learning how much goes into a tripod animal now that I have been researching what I need to do for him.

Thank you so much for reading this far, and hug your babes tight!
