My name is Matthew Carter and I am looking for donations of childrens' books to give to the NICU at Morristown Medical Center, where I was born twenty years ago at only 26 weeks old. Weighing a mere 1 lb. 8 oz., I spent 3 months in the NICU. Such an early birth can be a scary, challenging and lonely time for parents. I know it was for mine. My goal is to relieve some the stress of the NICU, and I think that a supply of childrens' books can help do that, while also helping parents look to the bright side. During an otherwise overwhelming stay at the NICU, reading aloud to their babies will allow parents to begin to form important bonds and even bring them a sense of calm, magic and wonder. All Donations will go the to the NICU at Morristown Medical Center because without them, I wouldn't be where I am today. I will be accepting donations until Friday, December 18th.
