Meet Bowie

Hi there! My name is Zedir (they/them) and this is Bowie David Olvero. He's been my fur baby for the last 10 years. He supports me emotionally by literally licking my tears away when I'm upset. He even survived a coyote attack once and HE was the one doing the chasing! But he lived and proved he is a super tough dog who has, and will always be, very loyal and intelligent. 

 He's in Trouble

On the 11th of March, he woke up and had a swollen mouth and couldn't eat. He was in so much pain I couldn't even touch his mouth (which he's usually surprisingly chill about). I canceled all of my clients that day and spent $400 at his regular vet on antibiotics, take-home pain meds, an injection for immediate pain relief, and a full blood panel.

 Here's What's Happening

Turns out a tooth became severely infected and the bacteria from it has started to leak into his bloodstream! For now, Bowie is on pain meds but his vet says he needs immediate surgery to stop his body from poisoning his own blood. The cost to extract Bowie's teeth and save the rest of them is $2,000 and we need it done asap! I love my job in social work at a local non-profit, but it pays hourly and after Oregon's almost 10% income tax, I just don't have enough funds to get him this life-saving surgery. Especially after already paying so much out of pocket to find the problem!

I am selling some loved items to raise a few extra bucks and will be looking for any side work I can outside of my full-time job. I've never asked for financial help like this before, but I will do anything for this dog. He brings so much freaking life to my home and I mean, he's a Chihuahua mix so he'll probably outlive me! Ergo, lots of time left to be spoiled. 

What's my plan so far and what am I asking from my community?  

• $200 will go on my credit card 
• my whole tax return for another $500
• $300 out of my next paycheck on March 19th.
