Box Truck RV Flood Loss

On March 13th, our family was devastated by a flash flood that completely consumed and totaled the box truck we spent the last 2 years converting into a home on wheels. Trapped in 4 feet of water, my wife, Kristian, and 2 year old son, Remi, had to be rescued from the truck because I was out of town for work. We thankfully had friends nearby that were able to get them out safely that night, carrying them through the freezing water. When I got back the following day I had to paddle out on a raft to get our 2 cats and a few of our essential belongings that we were able to save from the flood water. With multiple feet of standing water inside the vehicle, almost all of our belongings that weren't in upper cabinets were ruined. This included thousands of dollars of video production equipment used for work.

After getting the truck towed out and condition assessed, our insurance determined it a total loss. With this happening in Arizona, we were stuck having to reach out to various friends for places to stay over the last 2 months while everything was painstakingly figured out with insurance. We had about $20k into the vehicle and off-grid conversion, and with our insurance lowballing the evaluation, we're left having to cover the rest ourselves. On top of that, we discovered our personal property insurance did not include flood damage, so everything that was ruined we'll have to replace at full cost ourselves. When we went to retrieve all of our things from the truck at the salvage lot it's stored at, we discovered quite a few of our belongings missing, most notably a $1000 generator, all of our power tools, our bed, pillows, and an assortment of other valuables. We're still working with them on an investigation to figure out where our missing things went, and are stuck in the Phoenix area until it's resolved.

We're asking for some financial assistance during these hard times to help cover the gap in our insurance payout and destroyed belongings. We'll be immediately starting our next conversion to continue our life on the road and getting back into our own home as soon as possible. With many months of building required to complete, I won't have as much time to work my freelance video production job, which means less income for covering our bills and funding the conversion. Any little bit that you can help contribute is greatly appreciated, as there's a lot of hard work ahead for our family.
