Bruno and the C word
Hi. Meet Bruno aka Brunistopher, Mr. McFatterson, Booby. This boy is my son. He is GOING to be 10 on September 28th. Bruno has recently been diagnosed with Mast Cell Carcinoma. This is an aggressive skin cancer. I know everything there is to know about it (now). This amazing boy and I have a very unique bond. I say unique because I am 60 years old and have had MANY beautiful and wonderful animals, both male and female and I loved them with all of my heart...but Bruno and I ... it's indescribable. I guess he is my soul mate. I'm sorry to be so dramatic but I LOVE HIM AND HE IS SO HAPPY AND SAVES ME EVERY DAY. He has had one surgery (August 28th) and that's when they sent the mass off to be analyzed. I really thought it was not the C word, but I received the call a week later that it was in fact a HIGH-GRADE MAST CELL TUMOR. It is an aggressive cancer but he has options. A second surgery was scheduled for last Friday, September 20th but THE VET HAS COVID! It is now scheduled for Wednesday, September 25th. This is a revision surgery because, although the surgeon took wide margins, they did not get all of the cancer. This surgery is to remove what was left. He will then have at least 6 rounds of chemotherapy. I have spent countless hours researching the disease and learning about any and all treatments and therapies. I have purchased holistic products including Chaga Mushrooms and Hemp oil and he takes Benadryl twice a day because this type of cancer relesases histamines that cause the cancer to spread more rapidly. I also have a topical salve that I rub on the mass daily. I've learned about diet and HE IS DOING SO WELL. If he were in any type of misery I would not torture him just to keep him around for me.
Bruno LOVES to go for rides in the car daily. I am the dog lady in our neighborhood. My car is always a mess but I wouldn't have it ANY OTHER WAY. I do have another 13 year old Great Pyranese mix (his sister). Please know that I love her SO MUCH too and I am making sure she gets extra love during this crazy time. She is well (thank goodness).
I will post videos and photos and medical information about his journey and thank you in advance for any donation, however small to assist me in my efforts to save his life. I LOVE his vet and his oncologist but it has been QUITE A JOURNEY to find them. I do not love all vets as I think so many are mostly about the money. I am grateful for these doctors and I know they will do an amazing job to help my boy as best they can.
Bruno and I thank you!!!
Beth
