BuildingABetterTomorrow
Our program was inspired by a youth in need that I came across one chilly night in November 2024. He was sleeping outside the local library, and just wanted someone to believe in him and give him a second chance. This young man ignited a fire within my soul to reach out and help the community find ways to lift up and support our youth.
Building A Better Tomorrow focuses on homeless, unaccompanied homeless, special needs, disabled, and troubled youth that need a second chance. We will be helping them learn life skills, connecting them to resources to assist them on their journey into adulthood, and helping them find a purpose in life. We will also have connections available to help youth who encountered an unexpected pregnancy. We will direct them to resources to help guide the mother and father through adoption, or through centers who help young families thrive.
All proceeds raised will be used to help develop a community center focused on their needs. This center will teach an assortment of must needed skills to be confident in adulthood. Such as how to cook, how to set up insurance, how to change a tire, change your vehicle’s oil, how to apply for a job, how to apply for college, how to apply for a place to live, how to advocate for yourself at the doctors office, how to budget and set up a bank account, how to give back to the community, and many more.
The center will have storage closets with clothing, bedding, personal hygiene products and more. There will be weekly events that teach the youth how to care for themselves. Free of charge. I would like to set up nights where we have a projector set up where the community can come and watch films for free. All of the popcorn and drinks sold will go back into funding the center.
We are developing many relationships with churches, community centers, retired teachers, business owners, counselors, non profits, and with people who just want to help. We will have all of these resources accessible as they come our way through our webpage.
We are looking for many volunteers to help in any way they can. All must be approved in the school district as a volunteer, which performs a basic background check. Must reapply yearly to keep your volunteer status open.
We will be hosting community events to help the youth enjoy their lives without feeling like their dignity would be tarnished. No photography is allowed of the youth to protect their identities. All of their information will remain confidential, we are working with CPS to ensure their safety.
This is not a daycare program, we work with local authorities to keep your children in a safe place, but unfortunately we won’t be able to house anyone in the community center we plan to build. We do have partnerships with agencies who offer assistance with finding housing to youth in need though, please check our reference lists daily for updates.
Every dollar donated goes to the cause. Thank you for helping our mission. Inspiring purpose through a promise.
